Messages and jam invitations reach you while a MELD page is open. Turn this on and they reach you when it is not - the phone in your pocket while you are doing something else.
The notification says who, never what. A message on a lock screen is a message anyone standing near you can read.
What you hear about
These decide what is recorded for you at all — not just what buzzes. Turned off, the thing is never written down, so switching it back on later does not hand you a pile of things you already missed.
What interrupts you
Separate from the list above. Those decide what is recorded for the bell; these decide whether it also throws a card across the screen while you are doing something else. The bell collects everything either way.
